Stoppelman and Simmons conceived the initial idea for Yelp as an email-based referral network, after Stoppelman caught the flu and had a difficult time finding an online recommendation for a local doctor. Two former PayPal employees, Jeremy Stoppelman and Russel Simmons, founded Yelp at a business incubator, MRL Ventures, in 2004. The company's review system's reliability has also been affected by the submission of fake reviews by external users, such as false positive reviews submitted by a company to promote its own business or false negative reviews submitted about competing businesses – a practice sometimes known as " astroturfing", which the company has tried to combat in various ways.Ĭompany history (2004–present) Origins (2004–2009) Jeremy Stoppelman, co-founder and CEO of Yelp There have also been complaints of aggressive and misleading tactics by some of its advertising sales representatives. The company has been accused of using unfair practices to raise revenue from the businesses that are reviewed on its site – e.g., by presenting more negative review information for companies that do not purchase its advertising services or by prominently featuring advertisements of the competitors of such non-paying companies or conversely by excluding negative reviews from companies' overall rating on the basis that the reviews "are not currently recommended". “When choosing products to put into the stack for this year’s Worlds, we did not have the luxury of time,” says Lux Machina senior technical director Wyatt Bartel. With an incredibly tight schedule, Possible Productions put a crack team in place, including those that had worked on the Disney+ The Mandalorian TV series, and Riot’s engineering partner, Lux Machina, who supplied top-quality equipment including ROE Visual LED panels and Brompton Tessera processors. “It quickly became apparent that in order to bring different places to us, we needed to build a highly advanced extended reality stage that would sustain hundreds of hours of live broadcast of mixed reality content.” “The key challenge that Riot presented us with was extending the feeling of campaign throughout the entire month of the tournament without physically bringing people to different locations,” says Possible Productions creative director Michael Figge. However, with the challenges posed for both travel and live audiences, Possible Productions, a creative developer agency that has been working with Riot Games since 2016, looked for a solution that would give a sense of evolution to the tournament while broadcasting the entire production live from Shanghai. League of Legends tournaments have traditionally featured a host country, with teams touring different cities for each round of the games. Last year, like many other productions, the world’s most watched esports event migrated to the virtual realm and was broadcast live for over 240 hours using the most advanced and pioneering XR (Extended Reality) and MR (Mixed Reality) technologies, relying heavily on Brompton’s Tessera 4K SX40 LED processors to ensure perfect image reproduction on its LED video set. 11-14.The World Championship (Worlds) is the crowning event of Riot Games’ League of Legends. Learn more about the new Tessera S8 LED processor, as well as the HDR and Dynamic Calibration on Brompton’s Stand 12-C117 at ISE 2020 from Feb. “The S8 is an ideal choice for rental companies looking to maximize their offering for more cost-conscious events.” “With the Tessera S8 LED processor, we have brought the key features of our benchmark SX40 to a new solution with a lower output capacity, which makes it perfect for mid-range projects,” said Brompton CEO Richard Mead. All the industry-leading Tessera processing features are also available, such as On-Screen Colour Adjustment (OSCA) for color mismatch corrections, Dark Magic for dark-area detailing, and ChromaTune for video color replacement. Also, the Tessera S8 LED processor provides Ultra-Low Latency and High Frame Rate, and offers full input support, with eight 1G outputs, each capable of 525K pixels at 60Hz, 8 bits per color. Like the Tessera SX40, the Tessera S8 provides support for all of Brompton’s essential features, including High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Dynamic Calibration, which offer an approach to delivering better image quality for LED screens. However, it is also made for users who want to benefit from the flexibility of Brompton’s Tessera feature set and software. The Tessera S8 is a cost-effective solution for high-profile projects that do not require the large output capacity of the Tessera SX40 processor. Recent studies have revealed that the acceleration of ice calving events from polar ice shelves plays a vital role in sea-level rise ( Rignot and Kanagaratnam, 2006 Rignot et al., 2011). While drifting, icebergs melt, bringing freshwater that affects the local freshwater budget and the environment ( Gladstone et al., 2001 Silva et al., 2006 Stern et al., 2015 Moon et al., 2018). During their life span, they drift and rotate due to forces from winds, waves and ocean currents. Icebergs calve off glaciers in cold polar regions. Combining the iceberg shape rendering and the surrounding environmental measurements, we estimated the iceberg melting parameters due to the sensible heat flux and surface wave erosion at different iceberg sections. We have observed water upwelling and a colder and fresher water plume at the sea surface downstream the iceberg. During the field experiment, additional oceanographic measurements, such as temperature, ocean current, and wind, were collected simultaneously by the USV. The resulting motion estimates are then used to reconstruct the iceberg shape. When applying the motion estimation algorithm to these two independent point cloud measurements collected by the two sensing modalities, consistent iceberg motion estimates are obtained. In the field data, the above-water iceberg surface was measured with a scanning LIDAR, while the below-water portion (0–50 m) was profiled using a side-looking multi-beam sonar. The motion estimation algorithm is applied to a simulated data set and field measurements collected by an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) on a free-floating, translating, and rotating, iceberg. A down-sampling method is also integrated to reduce the processing time for possible real-time applications. The algorithm is developed based on point cloud matching strategies, policy-based optimization, and Kalman filtering. In this paper, we present an algorithm for iceberg motion estimation and shape reconstruction based on in-situ point cloud measurements. Iceberg shape is one of the most critical parameters in these models, but it is challenging to obtain because of iceberg movement caused by winds, waves, and currents. Iceberg drift and deterioration models have been developed to better predict climate change and protect offshore operations. In addition, drifting icebergs pose threats to offshore operations because they could damage offshore installations, e.g., pipelines and subsea manifolds, and interrupt marine transportation. The increased influx of freshwater ice due to increase calving from ice shelves and the destabilization of the continental ice sheet will affect sea levels globally. Besides the impacts to local ecosystems due to changes in seawater salinity and temperature, the freshwater influx and transport can have significant regional effects related to the ocean circulation. The calving, drifting, and melting of icebergs has local, regional, and global implications. 3Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography, Memorial University of Newfoundland, St.2MARUM, University of Bremen, Bremen, Germany.1Graduate School of Oceanography, University of Rhode Island, Narragansett, RI, United States.Mingxi Zhou 1 * Ralf Bachmayer 2 Brad DeYoung 3 Their only loss would come in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Sixers. The Lakers went on to sweep the Portland Trailblazers (3-0), Sacramento Kings (4-0) and San Antonio Spurs (4-0) in the team's first three playoff series. In addition to some staggering statistical output, the Lakers were nearly unbeatable in the 2001 postseason. Shaq averaged more than 30 points and nine rebounds per game throughout the postseason, while Kobe posted 29.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game. The Lakers began the season struggling on and off the court, as they were losing games at the beginning with the ShaqKobe feud. The club lost a few players to free agency, but they signed veteran players like Isaiah Rider and Horace Grant. The 2000-01 playoffs were Kobe and Shaq's coming out party. Background The Los Angeles Lakers entered the 200001 NBA season as the defending NBA champions. Things haven't quite been the same since. However, after rifts with the city and their fans, Kobe proclaimed that he would silence the Sixers faithful and "cut their hearts out" (via ) during the 2000-2001 NBA Finals. Playing with grit and determination that are unmatched in today's game, Kobe works tirelessly, just like the people of the city he called home as a youth. If there's one player who exemplifies a Philadelphia attitude on the basketball court, it's Kobe Bryant. Thus, they will be omitted from the list.Īs the season approaches, we take a look back at the Kobe Bryant's five greatest Laker teams. With that said, it would feel unfair to rank this year's Lakers among historical teams with established pedigrees. Kobe is absolutely right that the 2012-13 Lakers are the most talented team he's been a part of, but if they can't bring home a championship, it simply won't matter how good they look on paper. You're talking about a myriad of things where guys are on top of their position and have been at the top of their position." But just on paper, you're obviously talking about defensive players of the years, MVPs, All-Stars. "Whether that translates into winning a championship, that remains to be seen. 2019-20 Los Angeles Lakers Roster and Stats. "On its face, it's the best talent I've been around," said Bryant, entering his 17th NBA season. Visual editing mode allows you to see changes in real-time and preview what your document looks like without re-knitting. Starting with RStudio 1.4, the IDE includes a visual markdown editor that works with both. I am trying to include links to particular webpages in a kable table in Rmarkdown, when creating a pdf. We recommend exploring Hadley’s R4DS to learn more about RStudio Projects and workflows. Throughout the rest of this section, we will assume that you are using an RStudio Project. One of the benefits of RStudio Projects is that you can work using relative paths to the files you store there without the need to manually define working directories. In this directory, you will store all the files related to the document you will write. If you are using RStudio, you should set up an RStudio Project in the directory where you will create your RMarkdown file. Lastly, in order to have enough content to justify having advertisements, this firm looks for how many words are written on your site's pages to see if they are substantial enough. Luckily, this is an online arcade so we don't really deal with controversial topics. Certain subjects are taboo to these people and if you're found talking about them, no money for you. Second sacrifice of integrity that websites have to give into is a lack of control of their content. To do so, we have to have their cookies on here. We have no interest who you are or where you're going or where you've been online at all, we just want to host some games and make some money doing it. First example of this is the cookies that come with using this service, a necessary evil to get paid in this way. The downside to going with this option is a loss of some freedom of expression and loss of control over the way your site is run. Like many websites, we opted for the easier option to get our advertisements from one of those advising firms, and coincidentally, the one we went with runs the biggest search engine in the world. They can get seek private advertising through companies one by one to see if there is interest, a time consuming effort but allows for creative control of the website so long as the private advertisers are happy, or the website can take the easier option and appeal to a massive advertising firm to provide the ads directly. A website, like this one, can get these advertisements in a couple of ways, but there are drawbacks to each. Getting advertisements onto the site is a way to provide a free service and still get the money needed to keep the thing up and running. This site has to be hosted, the domain has to be maintained, and a lot ot time goes into setting the whole thing up and maintaining it, all of which takes money. Here's a simple fact of life, bills have got to be paid. The games are arranged alphabetically for easy searching (with some games appearing twice or more to account for possible alternate names, "A Bug's Life" in A and "Disney's A Bug's Life" in D for example). This site is a fun homage to the days when the Nintendo 64 was the king of video game consoles, enjoyed by kids, teenagers, and adults alike. Have doubts? Just enjoy the game and don't worry about the manual part. Rest assured, they have been vetted before being added to the site and are safe for downloading if you so desire. Now it's true, the manuals on this site come in a downloadable pdf format, but as of right now that appears to be the only way to offer them. This site was made to try to offer an alternative to allow players to play the games they loved in years past without having to download the game from one of those sites. Sure, there are a lot of games out there and with them come a lot of free roms and emulators, but for whatever reason, they only seem to be available on sites that by nature appear sketchy and not somewhere you want to be downloading things. Now that we are well over 20 years removed from its heyday, the games themselves are getting expensive to buy and collect physically. There’s plenty of times we’ll be fucking around with something and we’ll do something on the guitar that isn’t normal, noise-wise or whatever, and it’s about simply having the courage to follow that and not do it in the way it’s necessarily meant to be done or playing the guitar in the way it’s meant to be played what you’re doing is interesting so you fuck with it some more. The songs are unforgettable and also act as a benchmark and signpost. When you create something that powerful it stands as a reference point.
